Every time you create a folder, Windows makes it using the standard folder icon, it is indexed in a certain order and includes a particular informational text string. As the name suggests, Desktop.ini Editor is a tiny tool that enables you to access and change attributes of dektop.ini files on your system.
Since the utility is portable, it means you can decompress the archive in any desired location on your PC. Upon launch, you come face to face with a minimalistic, yet intuitive interface that is unlikely to give you any troubles.
In the eventuality that you are unsure about certain commands or want to double check, then you can check out the attribute examples menu. From this location, you can easily learn how to change various attributes, including, but not limited to, folder name, InfoTip, Icon or CLSID to printers, recycle bin, control panel, my computer or my network places.
Simply put, the role of the tool is to enable you to preview and modify common attributes like ConfrmFileOP, IconFile, IconIndex, IconResource, IconIndex, so on and so forth.
Once you have made all the desired modifications, you can hit the Apply Changes button and everything should be working accordingly. In case it does not, then it is recommended that you use the Rebuild Shell Icon Cache option from the File menu and try again.
It is worth mentioning that the utility can also offer CMD support in case you are more accustomed to making this sort of changes via Command Line commands.
Regardless of whether you are just tired of getting errors whenever you are attempting to delete a folder or perhaps, you prefer to create new folders with specific looks and functions, Desktop.ini Editor could come in handy.
