Portable Windows Hider

Made as the portable counterpart of Windows Hider, this app enables you to hide any active window from the screen, as well as to organize multiple windows into groups to hide all of them at once.

It sports several advanced configuration parameters that should be easy enough to be figured out by intermediate users, and it offers support for keyboard shortcuts when it comes to hiding and showing the windows.

The app is not wrapped in a setup pack, so you can save it anywhere on the disk and just click the executable. Just remember to have .NET Framework installed. Plus, administrative rights are necessary to stop Windows Hider from popping up error dialogs at startup.

The interface doesn't put any emphasis on appearance, but you can quickly get accustomed to it. Windows Hider automatically populates a list with all active windows, enabling you to add any one of them to one of the four predefined groups (they are color-coded).

Just keep in mind that one window can belong to only one group, in order to avoid conflicts. Evidently, you can remove any items from a group and re-arrange them, if you change your mind.

As far as program customization is concerned, Windows Hider lets you rename the groups, mute sound for any of them, as well as create a custom key combination for each category. What's more, you can set the tool to minimize when one of the hotkeys is pressed, run at every Windows startup until further notice, and check for software updates automatically.

The tool worked well in our tests, without causing the operating system to freeze, crash or pop up error messages. It was very light on system resources, thanks to the fact that it needed low CPU and RAM. On the other hand, the app doesn't integrate a feature for creating additional groups, so you are limited to just the four.

Nevertheless, Hide Windows Hider comes packed with practical and simple-to-use options for seamlessly hiding and showing multiple windows at once by triggering hotkeys.
