Portable Power Meter Plus

This is the portable edition of Power Meter Plus - a tiny application that enables you to keep an eye on your battery's lifespan. Evidently, it does not require installation, so you can run it from a USB flash disk or other external storage unit, as long as you have administrative rights.

What's important to keep in mind is that the Windows Registry area does not get new entries, and files are not kept on the hard disk after removing the tool.

At startup, Power Meter Plus creates an icon in the system tray area and shows an on-scren vertical meter that measures the battery level. It is possible to determine the remaining battery time by clicking the system tray icon.

Settings are configurable from the context menu. For example, you can make the tool display a message when switching from battery mode to the main power source, flash a message and set its duration, as well as set up notification levels for the battery critical status.

You can customize the meter colors for the battery drain and charging modes, namely for the background, text, graph outline and fill. These are just some of the notable options provided by Power Meter Plus.

The utility is very light when it comes to the CPU and memory levels, and has a good response time and refresh rate. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, since it did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Too bad that Power Meter Plus has not been updated for a long while, since it comprises features to please most users.
