GitHub has admittedly brought about a new era for app development, and the popularity of the site is clearly not without reason. Besides providing a platform for developers to share their work and empower one another, the tool also offers collaborative functions, allowing users to contribute and improve upon their work.

Gittyup is an app that hails from GitHub, and it allows users to...manage everything GitHub-related. The program is easy to set up and get started with, and through it, users can check on the latest developments and commits to their projects, and much more.

This tool was initially conceived in an effort to make it more approachable and convenient for users to manage their code on GitHub. To that end, the app does a pretty good job at presenting the source code of a project through its modern-looking, functional interface, that neatly lays everything to make it readily accessible.

Right off the bat, you have a few options to consider. You can initialize a new repository, as well as clone or open an existing one. When prompting to create a new repository, you'll be required to add files in order to populate it. You can manage and filter your branches, stage commits, tag everything appropriately, and other such GitHub-related things.

The app lends itself quite well to cloning and collaborating on repositories. When dealing with a project that spans over multiple branches, commits, and is worked on by multiple developers, that's where the program shows its potential. We were able to commit changes to a project, edit new and old revisions, configure, merge, and create new branches, and so forth.

We could see the previous commits to a project, along with the blame and diff functions, which allowed us to see who made certain changes by highlighting the appropriate lines of code, helping us better analyze and keep up with the respective repository.

Gittyup is a useful addition to anyone who actively uses GitHub: it helps developers stay on top of their repositories, as well as give them an additional means to collaborate and improve upon their work.
