Note: This tool is not a final product. It is unstable and could damage devices. Use it with extreme caution and at your own risk. You are responsible for any damage that this tool might cause to your device. Support for installing Android apps on Windows 10 Mobile devices is not official. We recommend using APK Deployment only for experimental purposes, and not for pirating applications.

With each of the mobile operating systems out there having its development platform, it is often difficult to find the same application on all of them. Of course, some of these OSes allow you to install software designed for other platforms, but Windows Phone is not one of them as of now.

Chances are that Microsoft will soon change that and that you might be able to install Android applications on your Windows 10 Mobile devices freely but, as of now, the feature is available only for developers and early adopters willing to take a risk.

Those of you willing to try installing Android programs on your Windows 10 Mobile devices can now take advantage of APK Deployment for Windows 10 Mobile for that. However, the tool is highly unstable and could damage devices, and using it could pose a risk for the device.

The idea behind this application is simple: it creates a connection between the computer and the Windows 10 Mobile device, allowing you to install Android applications (.apk files) with ease.

To get started, you need to unpack the archive to a desired location on your computer, and then to ensure that the ADB commands are working properly. Next, install the IpOverUsbInstaller.msi and vcredist_x86.exe files included in the newly created folder.

On your Windows 10 Mobile device, you need to navigate to "Settings" to enable "Developers Mode" and "Device Discovery" from "Updates and security" > "Developers". Next, you can run APKDeployment.exe and start installing Android applications on your Windows 10 Mobile device.

You can also install applications from command prompt. Instead of running APKDeployment.exe, it's necessary to open a console window and run the wconnect.exe usb or wconnect.exe IP address commands (if the mobile device has been connected over Wi-Fi) from it.

APK Deployment is by no means a final product, which means that you might encounter various stability issues when using it. Thus, it is recommended that you use it with extreme caution because you risk bricking your phone.

A list of supported devices can be found in our article covering the Android application support on Windows 10 Mobile devices.

Those of you who think these steps are too difficult to follow can wait for Microsoft to offer official support for installing Android applications on Windows 10 Mobile devices.
