Having a lot of data stored on your computer means not only that your HDD space might be running low, but also that you might need to spend a lot of time to find a certain file. FileBadger can help you speed up this process.

The main window of FileBadger might seem overwhelming at first sight, yet users with little PC skills can still look for their files using the basic criteria of the Simple Search.

You need to start by creating a list with the folders that should be examined, then enter a keyword. Optionally, you can add criteria related to file size or last access date, to restrict the search.

The final step is to initiate the scan, then explore the results until you locate the item you are interested in (double-clicking any item in the result list automatically takes you to the location of the file).

Those with expert computer skills can also enjoy FileBadger and perform their searches using complex search queries.

It needs to mentioned from the beginning that FileBadger does not analyze files' contents, instead its searches rely on file properties like name, folder, size, dates, and so on. Similarly, the app does not look inside metadata of any kind, such as title, author, bit rate, etc.

You can come up with complex string by inserting operators, variables and constants from the dedicated menu (alternatively, you can manually type them). The regular expression builder can also come in handy.

A nifty function of FileBadger is that you can save your queries and re-apply them at a later time, which is especially useful if you spent a lot of time creating a complex string and you do not want to lose your work.
