In the eventuality that you are experiencing a critical problem with the operating system that affects the normal functionality of Windows, then the most common approach is to enter Safe Mode for diagnosis. Depending on the Windows versions you are running, starting the OS in Safe Mode can be done differently, although the most common is to press the F8 key during system boot.

Safe Mode Launcher is a tiny tool that enables you to start Safe Mode when the F8 key is disabled. On a side note, on some operating systems, the F8 key is not working as it has been removed to improve system boot time.

The app is portable so all you need to do is decompress the archive and click on the appropriate x86 or x64 executable file. Afterward, you can select the desired Safe Mode and, based on your computer, you can choose between the Graphic Boot Menu or the Classic counterpart. Regarding the latter, take note that some computers and especially laptops may use another key (like for Toshiba laptops the boot menu key is F12 for instance).

According to the developer, if you choose to enter Safe Mode via the tool and restart the OS, then Windows switches to Normal Mode automatically if it detects any issues. You avoid getting stuck in Safe Mode.

If you have been attempting to remove or install various drivers or software in Safe Mode before, then you probably noticed that the MSI service is not supported. Needless to say that this can be quite problematic if you entered Safe Mode to remove something that was installed from an MSI package.

The developer claims that Safe Mode Launcher solves this irritating issue and enables the Windows Installer in Safe Mode. In fact, you can even add additional services that you want to start automatically by placing them in the SafeMode.ini file.

What's new in Safe Mode Launcher 1.1:

  • [Added] - Run in Safe Mode (When switched to safe mode, it runs the marked program or files added from the ini file)
