Taskbar UserTile

Injecting additional functionality into the operating system can be done through third-party tools and most of them are pieces that lack any complexity yet manage to make working on the computer a bit more comfortable.

Taskbar UserTile has been created with a simple purpose in mind: to add the user picture to a section in the taskbar without creating any inconvenience. The spot chosen by the developer is right next to the clock area.

Before using this application some precautions need to be taken since it functions only when the taskbar is at the bottom of the screen and has not been enlarged or modified in any way.

You don’t have to go through the routine installation process to work with the program. Also, all configuration consists in changing the default user image provided by the developer.

Achieving this requires placing the desired picture into the Resources folder and editing the configuration file (“config.ini”) to point to it. Once this is done the desired image should be shown in the rightmost side of the taskbar.

Some functionality is also included in the application and it consists in providing quick access to some important areas on the computer. These are the Control Panel and the User Accounts section.

Additional options allow switching to a different user, logging off the current account and locking the access to the computer.

Taskbar UserTile manages to make the desktop look different and enables quick access to some areas of the system. It does not bring to the table extraordinary functionality but it gives a fresh look to the taskbar in general and the clock area in particular. Keep in mind that it works with Windows editions up to 7.
