SetVol

Whether you prefer using a multimedia keyboard to adjust the volume on your computer or use the dedicated volume control button in the system tray, it's clear that Windows already has options to offer you in this matter. A third-party application, such as SetVol, is just another way to manipulate the volume.

SetVol does not comes with a standard interface. Instead, it only runs in the console window, providing a few commands that enable you to control the master volume in Windows. To see them all, you must either run the application's executable file or call the help command using "?" as an argument.

All the available options are presented to you, alongside a few examples on how the application can be used to make adjustments to the volume.

For instance, you can write any number between 0 and 100 as an argument for the executable and the volume will be set to that particular level. Alternatively, you can replace actual numbers with their English word equivalent and the same result is obtained. Note that SetVol ignores the text case, hyphens in the text, the word "percent" and the "%" symbol.

There are also other options, which enable you to increase and decrease the volume in the same range, between 0 and 100. You can use SetVol to quickly mute and unmute the volume.

SetVol is a way for you to set your Windows computer's master volume level, but unless you want to use it for something particular, it's not a go-to option to consider. The volume can be controlled easier using the built-in Windows slider, without too much hassle.
