Make 3DS Files

3DS is a filetype developed by Autodesk (not to be confused with Nintendo 3DS, which is something completely unrelated).

Projects with modeling, animation and rendering features can be saved as 3DS to preserve all attributes, then later opened to pick up where you left off. For example, it's possible to make adjustments to the design's texture and lighting conditions when opening a 3DS file with an application that's also capable of saving any changes.

For this hub, we selected some Windows applications capable of creating 3DS files, starting with Autodesk 3DS Max. There are also some tools that you can explore for creating 3DS files from other formats such as AutoCAD DWG. Just keep in mind that most of them are fairly large and complex, so you might need some time to get familiarized with all options and configuration settings.
