Screen Shade allows you to control the brightness of your screen. This customizable app allows you to place a shade over your screen to reduce the strain on your eyes. Screen Shade will reduce your Mac's brightness on demand, without any risk to your activities on your computer. Screen Shade was built specifically to save on energy consumption.
Ability to display names of screens/monitors (from macOS 10.15 onwards).
The simplicity of Screen Shade will make the app extremely easy to use. All the programming is hidden behind simple light intensity sliders. Easy to use and extremely effective.

The Best every screenshade
I've been very happy with this app for years. It keeps getting better. The screen can get very dark. I can turn down the computer shade for a break and watch a movie in total darkness while the computer works.
Very intuitive design. Daytime, Reading, and Primary Screen settings are great too.

Effective, weird edge case bug
Really like this little application. It starts on start-up, and also remembers the last setting. Only catch I have is I use an old 2010 iMac as a Targeted Display via Mini-Displayport cable. My HDMI monitor starts with Screen Shade, but when I connect the iMac as a Display, then try to use the app, it disappears. Then I can’t get my Dock to show for a minute. When I reopen Screen Shade, it works fine and controls both displays. Most people won’t run into my problem and it works great for me otherwise so I’m giving it 5 stars.
Love, But....
I love this app, it has totally saved my eyes! My only complaint is that when I take a screenshot, the screenshot comes out dark. I wish I could take screenshots that are not darkened automatically. As of now, if I want a good screenshot I have to disable the app first.
