File & Folder Locker

File & Folder Locker is a very simple utility to lock all of your files, folders and drives. This utility software is my greatest creation, because it holds my maximum knowledge of programming. During its creation time, several times my important files have been deleted accidentally due to bad command, and it took about three months to be completed finally fixing the critical bugs. Using this tool, you can lock all of your files, folders, hard drives and even removable drives.

Features & Tutorials :

Lock Files : File & Folder Locker helps you to lock all of your files of your hard drives and removable drives. Locked files of your removable drive cannot be accessed even if you connect that removable drive to other computers. To lock/unlock a file, click on Browse button of Lock Files section, select the file which you want to lock/unlock, and then click on Lock button to lock, or click on Unlock button to unlock. Remember, locked files cannot be accessed, but can be deleted.

Lock Folders : You can lock all of your folders of your hard drives and removable drives using File & Folder Locker, so that nobody will be able to access or delete the locked folders anymore. Locked folders of your removable drive cannot be accessed or deleted even if you connect that removable drive to other computers. To lock/unlock a folder, click on Browse button of Lock Folders section, select that folder, and then click on Lock button to lock that selected folder, or click on Unlock button to unlock. As locked folders cannot be accessed and deleted, it's better to lock folders rather than lock files.

Lock/Hide Drive(s) : Using File & Folder Locker, you can also lock all of your hard drives and removable drives. You can not lock CD/DVD drives, but you can hide all of them (i.e. hard drives, CD/DVD drives and removable drives).

To lock/unlock a drive, at first click on the dropdown menu of Lock/Hide Drive(s) section, select the drive, and then click on Lock button to lock that selected drive, or click on Unlock button to unlock. To hide a drive, click on the dropdown menu, select the drive, and then click on Hide button to hide that drive. Select None from the dropdown list and click on Hide button to unhide that drive. Remember, you can hide only one drive at a time. Use Refresh button to update the dropdown list.

Log Off Windows :
After hide/unhide a drive, you have to logoff windows to take its affect. To logoff windows, click on Tasks menu, select Log Off Windows, and then select Yes to logoff. Alternatively, you can press Alt + L from keyboard, and then select Yes to logoff windows.

Convert to NTFS : The drive which contains your desired files/folders to lock, must be in NTFS format. You can convert the drives to NTFS file system without any data loss or formatting them. To do that, click on Tasks menu, and select Convert to NTFS. Alternatively, you can press Alt + C from keyboard to appear NTFS conversion box.

Next, in the label field, you have to type a label (any name for the drive, but the name must be alpha-numeric and within ten characters), select the drive from the dropdown list, and then click on Convert button to convert the selected drive. It'll take few minutes to convert the drive from FAT32 to NTFS file system. Remember, the conversion time depends on the drive's capacity. Drive of larger capacity needs more time to be converted. You can use the Refresh button to update the dropdown list. Once the conversion completed, you can lock any files/folders of that drive, even the drive itself.

Change Password : To change File & Folder Locker's password, click on Tasks menu, and select Change Password. Alternatively, you can press Alt + P from keyboard. A box will appear which will ask you to type the current (File & Folder Locker's) password. So, type the current password correctly and click Okay. Then, another box will come which will ask you to type a new password. You've to type the new password into two password fields to be verified. So type the new password in the both fields carefully and then click Okay. You can change File & Folder Locker's password any time needed.

Master Key : I'm not sure, but sometimes it may happen that you cannot unlock one of your locked files/folders by Unlock button. If it really happens, please don't get worried about that, because I've already provided a Master Key by which you can unlock any of your locked files/folders which could not be unlocked by the Unlock button. To use it, first, go to Help menu and select Master Key. Alternatively, you can press Alt + M from your keyboard. Next, it'll ask you for permission, so click Yes if you want to use the Master Key, else click No to cancel it. If you click Yes, then it'll ask you for current (File & Folder Locker's) password, so type it correctly and click Okay.

Then, you will see three keys at the left side of three sections. Now, if you want to unlock a file, then click on Browse button of Lock Files section, select the file which you want to unlock, and then click on of that section to unlock that selected file. To unlock a folder, click on Browse button of Lock Folders section, select that folder, and then click on of that section to unlock that selected folder. To unlock a drive, at first click on the dropdown menu of Lock/Hide Drive(s) section, select the drive, and then click on of that section to unlock that selected drive.

** Caution : Don't lock File & Folder Locker itself; else you've to install it again. **
