Description

Drop audio files on this app, and create ALE files for import to Avid Media Composer. The ALE files contain the metadata you see in iTunes, saving you the time it takes to type it in.

Audio files can also be dragged straight from iTunes.

The supported audio formats are AIFF, MP3 and MPEG4-Audio (m4a). WAV files are not supported.

Songster prefers to use Spotlight to read the metadata from audio files, but can fall back on a different mechanism if Spotlight is unavailable.

Great Time Saver for an Assistant Editor

I've been using Songster since version 1, and it continues to be a great piece of software that saves me a lot of time. In the course of my job, I am quite often given a large batch of mp3s and m4a files to import and label. In the past, this was a very time consuming process to manually enter this information. When mistakes are made in this information, it can be very costly to a show. Songster quickly and reliably grabs the information already in those mp3s and gives me an ALE that I can import into an Avid bin and then batch import the files with all their metadata filled in. I only use the Avid portion of the program, and I only use "file name" for the name field. This allows me to select all of the files in the batch import window and once I match up the first one, the rest fall into line. (drag all files into one big folder for easiest batch importing)

I had an issue once and got a response very quickly that was helpful.

Great App for FCP 7! Intuitive and Simple! It just works!

For those of us still using Final Cut Pro 7, this is a really fast and seamless way to get metadata from itunes (AIFF) music cues into FCP.
Songster uses FCP custom columns and you have total control over where and how the information shows up in your project.

And the best thing is: you just drop a folder full of (iTunes tagged) AIFF files onto Songster and a bin shows up in your FCP project with the audio files and all the artist, album, genre, comments etc. information.

I think it's genius and I would not want to work without it any more.

A great app, but sometimes crashes my Avid on ALE import

Can’t say why. It must be something in the odd character names or something. But that shouldn’t happen. Otherwise it’s a great tool.
