RR 1.2 has just hit Chrome’s Extension Gallery. This version brings some new, long awaited goodness!
Readability 1.6 and readable links

In their remarkable quest of making on-screen reading more pleasurable, arc90 introduced the transformation of default web links into their paper counterparts – footnotes. Different color of text, associated with links, breaks your focus and slows down the process of reading. We wouldn’t want that, would we?
So, instead of this:
In new Readability, your links are formatted neatly:
Precise Readability
Readability, despite all its power, isn’t perfect. It can fail miserably on discussion boards, sometimes errors occur during the transformation of ordinary blog sites. As extracting content from the web isn’t 100% correct, you can help where the science fails! Enable “Apply Readability only to selected fragment”. Then, on the troublesome page, just select the text, fire off Redability and voilà! (this option is not a magic wand either, it takes some time to select the right chunk of text).
This option is what I used to create above screenshots. Instead of the lengthy article, I could select a few word from the beginning and present it here. Now, in case you want to see that again, here you are. Sit down and relax:
Keyboard shortcuts
Ok, this one is probably a biggie for many. It clearly speaks for itself. You might want to know that all changes, including disabling or re-enabling of the option, require a refresh of all tabs for them to recognize changes.
The sad thing about shortcuts is, Ctrl-R (and Ctrl-Shift-R for that matter) is already reserved as a refresh shortcut!. You may want to experiment a little. My personal suggestion is Ctrl-X (although most of the time I prefer the button – having the touchpad next to the keyboard makes a real difference compared to, say, a keyboard+mouse. YMMV).
Wrapping up, 1.6 is an exciting Readability update, and I hope my additions will please you too. As always, I’m open to all suggestions, catch me by mail (there is no comment feed in the Gallery so that’s less reliable form of communication). Feel free to fork my github project into oblivion, too!

Could you create it so (or maybe just as an option) that when Readability detects an article on a site it appears in the right end of the omnibox, as so many other extensions do this (like RSS ones, if they detect a feed)?

Fantastic extension, it really makes my time online a lot more pleasant.
If I may, 2 things I’d like to see implemented are:
1. Option to hide the “R” button (for keyboard-shortcut users)
2. RTL text support?

Thanks for the wonderful utility.
There should be an option to disable the integration with the right-click menu. I use the shortcut, the extension shouldn’t mess with the simplicity of chrome without consulting.

I wish for a save as pdf button, I find so many articles I would love to read but even in the beautiful way readabilty displays the Page I wish I could take it with me on my ereader, I copy paste and save as pdf on open office but this is cumbersome, I wish I could save with one button as pdf and with my ereader connected could save it directly to the device!

Still works in Chrome 7.0.517.41 beta but fails in Chrome 8.0.559.0 “Canary” with the errors following errors.

My first suspicion is that Chrome Canary is subtly broken. The errors seem to occur within Chrome resources, rather than within code of Readability Redux. Chrome Canary builds should be regarded as “probably broken until proven otherwise”, since they are used for very early testing of changes to Chrome (less mature than ‘beta’ versions, even).

Stopped working for me to (Chromium 8.0.558.0 (62909)) on all pages. No console errors generated? The Readbility extension still works, but I do prefer Readability Redux. The bookmarklet still works though…

You can automagically get updates for Gallery comments (and ratings, if you want) with the extension-watcher-extension “My Extensions”:

Further, if you want people to come here for support, you may want to add a support link to the Readability Redux page in the Gallery. There’s a specific option for this now, when editing an extension’s description.
RTL support would be nice.
Is there an issue with keybindings triggering unnecessarily? I’ve set mine to ctrl+alt+r, and using 9.0.597.84 beta, it would trigger randomly while I’m typing and ‘kill’ my webpage. I can’t really type ctrl+alt+r by accident while typing normal text as well…
Love the extension, but would be nice if it would automagically format the webpage instead of having to hit the R button.
You are the MAN! I have been still mostly using camino because I can command-1 to do a readability script. Now I can assign ctrl-p to readability, and not have to touch the mouse. You helped my transition to Chrome.

The final anoyance with chrome is that if you are blocking with the mouse scrolling down the page, chrome stops at the bottom of the window, and will not scroll further. Once I find an ad on for that, I may convert to Chrone completely.

Great extension!
Enhancement request #1: it appears that your margin settings are relative to a fixed total width of some length. It would be nice to be able to set that length to be whatever the browser width was — particularly when I’m in full screen mode, I would love the text to take up the entire screen (or at least be able to adjust margins relative to that).
Enhancement request #2: given that the number of options for configuring the view aren’t too many, it would be great to be able to utilize them on the left hand side where the existing controls (print, email, etc.) reside so that the previously mentioned margin enhancement toggle could be accessed, as well as adjustments to font size, etc. Page would update dynamically, etc.

Cool extension! But can I somehow disable the icons on the screen. Couldn’t find an option in config.
Why does it require so may permissions? —
‘Your data on all websites.’
‘You tabs and browsing activity.’
This is just too much!
It has to be able to rewrite any page you visit to show the “readable version”. If the extension didn’t request those permissions, it wouldn’t be able to do anything.
It does not record or transmit any of the addresses or page content, but Chrome doesn’t know that so that’s why you get the warning.

Hi, I’d like to purchase your extension (take ownership of it in Chrome Webstore), if you’re interested in selling it.
I like your extension so much. I use it everyday. However, there are a couple of things if changed/added can make my experience much more enjoyable.
Customizing font-family, font-sizes, margin-width, and colors would be really good instead of some presets which I find difficult to use.

Have you considered doing this for Firefox. They have nosquint but it doesn’t wrap lines
