Effective. Simple (maybe a little too simple)

Seems to work well. Results are in line with other testing. Interface is clean.

The rough spots are with the GUI (planning and execution). Even after using the app awhile, I often need to briefly stop a moment to think about the iconnography. There are only six icons/buttons, but …

Two out of six icons are devoted to the app’s marketing. There is no auto-nag built in, but hey, I paid my five bucks, does a third of my functionality really still need to be marketing?

The Quit icon looks like the ubiquitous Apple share icon … the box with an arrow pointing out of it. There is a difference in that the arriow points to the side instead of up, but it’s similar enough that you’re bound to quit by mistake a time or two if your’e looking to output your results. The problem is compounded by a lack of actual Sharing/export. The only way to save the result outside the app is once-only option at the end of each test to share that single result. Export to PDF might be nice. If you’re trying to document a tendency towards less-than-advertised speed to harangue your ISP, you’ll need to get a little creative on how to show your test outcomes.

Finally, the start icon is not stylistically cohesive with the rest of the interface. The button is actually the text area over the letters “start”. That’s OK, but ... everything else is a picon and the “start” letter-button happens to be directly under this large graphic that looks for all the world like a big old button. I keep clicking on it and wondering what went wrong before I remember this little foible.

As one functional comment, it might be nice to select a server from nearby choices, if one wants to compare (ahem) apples-to-apples over time.

Good App

This is a good app but currently it has a bug if you want more accurate speed test by adjusting the accuracy slider (> 50%) in settings your results produce negative numbers. Hopefully the app developer will fix this in a future release.

Just doesn't work!

This reports that my internet speed is negative. What does that even meen? Does it take a lot of time time to not download anything? Or does it mean that there is a bug in reporting the speed that shows a complete lack of attention to detail by the developer?

I suspect they have never tested it on the newer Gigabit internet service plans like on Comcast Xfinity. Don't download it until this is addressed?
