Screen Material Image Ripper

The SKyFX Screen Material Image Ripper, or SIRipper, is a unique screen capture application to sample Printscreen-to-clipboard pasted and file based imaging for fast concept level materials imaging that can be sent to SketchUp automatically.

SIRipper samples screen imaging by user selections and saves files to its Materials Library which imaging can then be sent as image file based textures to SketchUp. You can send new imaging into the SketchUp model via the Ruby Console and a button click in singular, batch or super batch manner.

Materials Library Channels Buttons Group

By clicking those Materials Channels buttons the following sub-directories can be viewed:

The samples below, are of some of these SIRipper Materials directory views as thumbnails as viewed from within Windows Explorer. You can create more directories, but default paths are directed to this set of default SIRipper Materials Library directories. There are is a Kaleidoscope Material sub-directory which is not connected to from the Materials Sampler form but is present for materials application use.

Due to the horizontal and vertical tiling visual “levels effect” inherent in repetitive tiled patterns the effect of almost any material texture can reinforce the “Skyscraper Effect” as SKyFX core FX focus is big skyscrapers. SIRipper provides many textures to experiment with as we found in development many materials that seemed like they were not going to be effective for a “skyscraper look” actually were to our surprise amazingly effective at providing the visual impression of “floors” and levels when applied to very tall 3D modeled object like our Skyscrapers even if the materials “subject matter” seemed inapplicable.

Because 3D game designers are generally also very open minded to new FX and techniques we also believe that with them and other adventurous designers and the fantastic luxuries of the “3D world” “realities” is the place to experiment open mindedly and present new FX and 3D ideas and we as a team have the goal to expand into materials experimentation with the SKyFX core “SkyscraperFX” concepts and to continue to do so.
