XVid;-) - DivX movie player with subtitles. #Movie player #Divx player #Playing movie #Movie #Player #Divx
XVid;-) is a simple movie player that comes packed with DivX codecs.
Its interface is pretty minimalistic, so both beginners and power users can play with this application.
All you have to do is open a video file. Unfortunately, XVid;-) does not support drag and drop. It also does not specify the exact video file types it is compatible with.
As far as we have tested, XVid;-) recognizes AVI, ASF, MPG, WMV and XVID formats, but not DIVX, sadly.
Although the option to “play the movie after load” is enabled, XVid;-) does not comply, so you still have to hit the play button.
One major problem here is the fact that it doesn't allow you to freely move back and forth in the video track. If you try this, the clip resets itself.
Surprisingly enough, XVid;-) puts a great emphasis on hotkeys for keyboards, joysticks, and gamepads, so controlling it is very simple.
In full-screen mode, the mouse cursor disappears, and you cannot access media player functions. In order to do so, you have to return to normal view mode.
In the Configuration menu, you can change the language, adjust the sound balance, customize subtitles, change hotkeys, or set the path to TVTool.exe.
Occasionally, the software temporarily jams when you are enabling other processes in Windows.
CPU and memory are moderately used when a video clip is playing.
In conclusion, XVid;-) is a fair media player, but it still needs some touchups. On the other hand, it is easy to use and accessible to all user types.
