People who have digital cameras usually fall into one of two categories. Either they use it for a bit after they get it and then stop using it except on certain occasions, or they go the entirely opposite route and take a huge amount of photos. For the first kind, iPhoto is more than enough to organize and sort through photos. For the second kind, something a bit more powerful is in order, something with a bit more flexibility, and this is where JetPhoto Studio comes in.

A photo organizer and publisher with lots of powerful features, JetPhoto Studio lets you stay on top of all those photos.

Easy Albums JetPhoto Studio works with albums like most similar applications. The difference is that is handles these albums much like OS X handles applications, through packages. This means that all your photos, their thumbnails and all related meta-data will be placed within one single 'file' making it easy to store, copy, move about and organize. Each album file is actually a folder with a special hierarchy in which the program places everything it needs.

To create albums, you can either create a blank one and then import images from another location, which is a bit of a bother since it will not allow you to import a folder with other folders inside it, or convert a folder into an album. The second option is much more appealing, especially because of the way it can be done. Just take any folder in the Finder and rename it by adding the '.album' suffix. This instantly converts it into a JetPhoto Studio album, which can immediately be opened with the application and will contain all the images in the initial folder.

Inside the Album Once all the images you need are inside an album, you can browse them using the thumbnails view, or view them in the detailed view. For each image you can see and edit information about it, as well as add keywords and notes.

Images can also be browsed through by date, using a calendar view to highlight all the images that were taken on a certain date.

Apart from viewing and organizing the images, you can also perform minor modifications such as rotating them.

GPS Power All the above-mentioned things can also be done in other programs and are pretty standard options, however the GPS related functions of JetPhoto Studio are what really set it apart. The program allows you to match GPS Waypoints and Tracks to your images, thus adding the Longitude, Latitude and Height information to them.

If you have a GPS Receiver, which you carry with you during your travels, JetPhoto Studio can make use of the information on the tracker. Just connect the device to your computer and import the GPX file directly from within the application, and then let it match the time at which photo were taken against the time and location information from the GPS receiver.

At the end of this step, not only will each file have the GPS information associated with it, but you can also see a visual representation of the places where the photos were taken overlaid on a world map, which you can zoom into and update over the net.

Exporting This is the area where JetPhoto Studio truly shines. It allows you to batch resize photos adding watermarks for web use, publish and sync the album on the web, create flash presentations of the images as well as get the images ready for displaying on mobile devices such as cell phones and iPods.

Everything is really easy to do; to get pictures ready for the web, just select the photos you want, in case you don't want them all, and then select the sizes on the thumbnails you want. In case you also desire a watermark, just drop any image file into the well and then select one of the sides or corners where you would like it pinned.

Have a mobile phone or iPod which can display images? Just select the maker and model from the list, and the program will automatically load the screen size information as well as a preview image so you can see what the image would look like. Now you can select the area of the picture that you want and make sure that it will also look good on that tiny screen.

Everything is very easy to use, with onscreen help and plenty of options to give you the flexibility you need.

The Good The exporting possibilities are great, and the GPS functionality is a must for anyone who likes to travel and shoot photos.

The Bad A bit awkward to use here and there, and not very customizable.

The Truth A great organizing and exporting program if you like taking heaps of photos, and especially so if you also like being on the go.
