14 DAY TRIAL // There are lots of plans for Windows 10 and Windows Phone 10 under consideration right now at Microsoft, and one of them is the possibility of running Android apps on both phones and tablets powered by the upcoming OS version.
This plan was first revealed earlier this year and even though there were people who pointed out that it was nearly impossible to see Android apps running on Windows in the coming years, it appears that Microsoft is at least still thinking about it right now.
A new report published by Microsoft watcher Mary Jo Foley and citing sources close to the matter reveals that features which would allow Android apps to run on Microsoft's Windows and Windows Phone operating system are still possible, but there are absolutely no details available right now as to when the company could confirm this project.
Interestingly, many believe that Android apps could be available for Microsoft users in Windows 10, but there's no indication whether the company has already managed to make them work on tablets and phones within the company.
Either way, it's pretty clear that having Android apps on Windows isn't really an out-of-this-world scenario, and there's no doubt that such a project would really help Microsoft address the app gap that pushed so many users to rival platforms.
Back in September, Microsoft revealed that there were 527,000 Modern apps in the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store, and 340,000 of them were designed to work only on phones.
The concept of universal apps, however, could also address this problem and bring more apps supposed to run on phones on both tablets and PCs.
