Windows 8 does come with a “Photos” app to let users view their pictures with just a few taps, but those looking for some more advanced options have no other choice than to head over to the Windows Store.

The so-called Gallery HD is an app that may appeal to many users, as it comprises dedicated tools to browse and display photos and videos from any folder, while also providing a slideshow setting with fade and zoom effect.

In addition, the program can be set as the default photo viewer app and can be used to access detailed information for pictures and videos without leaving the Metro UI.

Of course, it works with all Windows 8 versions on the market, including the tablet-oriented ARM build.
