It offers support for a wide range of cameras and device-specific file formats

A new flavor of Microsoft’s Camera Codec Pack is now available for download, namely version 16.4.1620.0719.

The codecs pack was made available for download with support for a wide range of device-specific file formats in Windows Live Photo Gallery, as well as in other apps that build on Windows Imaging Codecs (WIC).

As soon as users install this package, they will be able to view supported RAW camera files in Windows Explorer.

The package comes with support for a variety of cameras, including those built by Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Pentax, Leica, Konica Minolta, Epson, Panasonic, Casio, Kodak, and Samsung.

The package can be downloaded and installed on both 32-bit and 64-bit flavors of Windows, Microsoft explains. It comes with support for Windows 7 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2.
