Since developers are playing such an important role for the upcoming Windows 8, Microsoft today released Metro style app code examples especially created for this new operating system.

This way, developers can have a look at programming models, platforms, features and components available in Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, Microsoft says on the official download page.

The samples can be downloaded individually for C++, C#, JavaScript, or VB.NET languages, or all at once as part of a full package created by Microsoft.

“This sample is provided as-is in order to indicate or demonstrate the functionality of the programming models and feature APIs for Windows 8 and/or Windows Server 2012,” Microsoft explained on the download page.

All packages come with a MS-LPL license and are packed in a ZIP archive containing a Visual Studio solution file (SLN) for the sample.
