Flipboard is one of the Windows 8 apps announced back in late June at Microsoft’s BUILD developer conference in San Francisco, with the developing team promising a release by the end of the year.

Now it turns out that the app is almost ready to launch, as an early version was installed on a Nokia tablet at the Nokia World conference in Abu Dhabi.

The Verge is reporting that Flipboard for Windows 8 comes with almost the same features as Android and iOS versions, while also adding pinning support for Microsoft’s operating system, which basically comes in handy for users who wish to add feeds to the Start screen.

Of course, the Modern version of Flipboard will also work on Windows RT, thus offering support for tablets, such as Microsoft’s very own Surface RT and Surface 2. It’s not yet clear if it’s going to be Windows 8.1-exclusive or not.
