The recently-released Windows 10 build 10130 comes with several improvements to the desktop and the default icons, but Microsoft has also added a new keyboard shortcut that's supposed to allow insiders to use Cortana without even touching their mouse.

Starting with this build, pressing the Win key + C not only that wakes up Cortana, but also launches is speech recognition engine so you can instantly start asking questions, setting reminders, or simply talking to your personal assistant.

In previous builds of Windows 10, the very same keyboard shortcut was already configured to be used with Cortana, but the difference was that whenever you pressed the Win key + C, Cortana woke up and waited for you to type something and search the web.

With this new update, the speech recognition system is launched by default, so you just press this shortcut and you start talking, so the process is faster and easier.

This is quite an important update for PC users who rely on Cortana for their daily activities and it's part of Microsoft's efforts to make the personal assistant more appropriate on the traditional desktop computer.

Cortana is likely to receive some other tweaks before Windows 10 reaches RTM, which according to sources should happen in June or July.
