The Surface Pro 3 might be a really expensive tablet for the average Joe, but Microsoft does a really great job when it comes to signing deals with companies that would be interested in adopting the device.

The most recent example comes from airline company Lufthansa which decided to provide its pilots with Surface Pro 3 tablets to keep an eye on weather reports, see aircraft information, and access navigation solutions that would help them monitor the selected route.

Microsoft said that as part of the agreement, Lufthansa will buy no less than 5,000 Surface Pro 3 tablets which will be handed out to pilots of the company no matter their destination. The campaign will start in February 2015 and shouldn't take more than a few months to complete.

The Surface Pro 3 is quite an advanced device and comes with a 12-inch and a choice of three different CPU configurations, starting with an Intel Core i3 and ending with Intel Core i7.

The device also includes up to 8 GB of RAM, depending on the version you choose, as well as with a maximum of 512 GB of storage space for the top of the range model.

Pricing isn't quite appealing for consumers, as the top model is available in the United States for no more, no less than $1,950 (1,500 euros), which is pretty much the same price you'd have to pay for a powerful laptop with a bigger screen.
