Microsoft has just released a brand new firmware for the Surface Pro tablet running the full version of Windows 8, explaining that most improvements are supposed to prepare the device for the upcoming Windows 8.1 OS update.

The company says that the October 2013 firmware release includes UEFI improvements and System Aggregator updates, which means that enhanced stability and performance is expected to be noticed after installation.

In addition, the new firmware includes “various device driver updates to enhance the Windows 8.1 update experience, and optimizations for using Type Cover 2 or Surface Touch Cover 2.”

As you most likely know, the new Windows 8.1 is scheduled to debut on October 18, with Microsoft to release it to all Windows 8 adopters as a free download available via the integrated Store.
