Windows 8's sales performance remains one of the biggest enigmas these days, especially because tech giant Microsoft refuses to provide us with some updated figures of its new flagship operating system.

Everybody expected Microsoft to reveal Windows 8's first five-month uptake this week, as part of the company's quarterly earnings conference call, but the Softies have once again decided to remain tight-lipped on this subject.

While we can't tell for sure whether Microsoft is satisfied with Windows 8's adoption or not, market share figures pretty much speak for themselves.

At this point, Windows 8 has a market share of nearly 3.30 percent, even though five months have passed since its official debut.

What's more, the lack of a Start button seems to remain one of the issues that are still bothering plenty of users, so Microsoft might change its mind and provide this feature in the next Windows release.

Rumor has it that a Start button is in the works as we speak to debut in Windows 8.1, the first major overhaul of Windows 8 that could see daylight this summer.
