A new set of screenshots that reached the web last week revealed the user interface of what seems to be the default Metro apps to be integrated into Windows 8.1 RTM.

The Mail, the People, and the Calendar app will all be redesigned in the stable build of Windows 8.1, especially because Microsoft is trying to make the most of the Metro UI, while also helping the operating system become a much more user-friendly working environment.

According to LiveSide.net, the People app will get a new design that includes an in-app search box, plus contact name filter controls. At the same time, the Calendar app will be updated to display the upcoming events on the home screen in a much easier to read way.

It appears that these improvements will be exclusively available in Windows 8.1 RTM and Microsoft won’t roll them out for Preview users.
