A new preview build is expected “very soon”

Microsoft is expected to release a new Windows 10 Preview build in the coming days, but the company apparently was in a rush this morning, so it rolled out three updates that are specifically designed for the new unlaunched testing bits.

This might sound a little bit weird for some, especially because the updates can already be downloaded right now (but they obviously do not work since they require a preview version which isn’t yet available), but it’s also another sign that a fresh Windows 10 Preview build is expected in the coming days.

As WinBeta notes, the three updates, called KB3008956, KB3008968, and KB3008931, are designed for Windows 10 Technical Preview 9860, which is very likely to be the new version projected to be delivered to users.

Until now, Microsoft has remained completely tight-lipped on what’s going to be changed in the fresh Windows 10 TP build, but we’re hearing that new window animations and a few other improvements for the Start menu are very likely to be included.

Of course, a detailed blog post highlighting the new features will also go live together with the new testing build, so more information will be provided very soon by Microsoft itself.

Keep in mind that the new preview build will be shipped via the integrated Windows update system, independent from the original Windows Update feature, which allows the installation of new features and improvements without the need for a clean install.
