Microsoft has announced a new advertising effort for the new Windows 8.1 operating system and devices running it, inviting users to try out all of them in malls across the United States.

The company has created what it calls Ice Palaces across fifteen malls across America, thus giving visitors the chance to test Windows Phones and tablets while going out for shopping.

“The Ice Palace is a magical winter wonderland featuring a 30 foot ice dome built for the holidays in each of the malls. Inside it has falling snow and children can take pictures with Santa and the beautiful Ice Princess. Instantly popular with kids, we know the Ice Palace lines are often long; so, we’ve decided to help. While waiting in line this holiday, you’ll have the opportunity to touch and try Windows devices like the Windows Phone and Surface 2s,” Microsoft explained.

Here are the United States malls participating in this new program:

Los Angeles, CA – Beverly Center Denver, CO – Cherry Creek Shopping Center Miami, FL – Dolphin Mall Fairfax, VA – Fair Oaks Mall Dearborn, MI – Fairlane Town Center Novi, MI – Twelve Oaks Mall Auburn Hills, MI – Great Lakes Crossing Outlets Tampa, FL – International Plaza Norfolk, VA – MacArthur Center Charlotte, NC – Northlake Mall Concord, CA – Sunvalley Mall Short Hills, NJ – The Mall at Short Hills Wellington, FL – The Mall at Wellington Green Plano, TX – The Shops at Willow Bend Farmington, CT – Westfarms Mall.
