Microsoft has revealed during the BUILD developer conference in San Francisco that Windows 8.1 Preview would spawn several new Metro apps, including an official Facebook client.

In addition, it appears than an NFL Metro app is also in the works right now and if everything goes according to the plan, it should land in the Store in the next few weeks.

No specifics have been provided, but Microsoft claims that it's trying to bring more high-quality apps on Windows 8, just to make sure that users are provided with a wide variety of choices.

At this point, there are nearly 100,000 apps available for download and Microsoft claims that it tried to put the focus on quality rather than on quantity. And still, some important apps are still missing, including an official Gmail client.
