The Redmond-based company is quickly becoming a hardware rival, they say

Microsoft has already started work on the next Windows iteration, so it’s now collaborating with its hardware partners to make sure that their devices will be able to make the most of the new software.

Some manufacturers, however, are afraid to show Microsoft the designs of their new products, as the Redmond-based technology titan could steal their ideas and use them for future Surface tablets.

A report by DigiTimes and citing “sources from the upstream supply chain” notes that Microsoft’s efforts in the hardware industry are turning it into a real competitor for some of its partners, so many of them wish to wait before showing their new devices running the next Windows, be it Blue or 9.

Microsoft’s Surface isn’t selling very well right now, as the company has only shipped 1.5 million devices since launch, but more models are reportedly in the works and could hit the market sometime this year.
