Microsoft’s outgoing CEO Steve Ballmer will soon leave the company, but he still has the time to meet with government officials across the world and discuss plans for several local IT projects.

Ballmer recently met with Ivica Dačić, Serbian prime minister, Aleksandar Vučić, first deputy prime minister, and members of the Government and the Economic Council to talk about Serbia’s plans of becoming a Balkan technology hub.

The local IT industry is growing twice as fast as the local economy, with Microsoft already operating a development center in the country and working with more than 1,000 partners across Serbia.

“The Serbian Government has prioritized the growth and development of the IT sector as one of its top economic priorities, because this industry could be an impetus for the country's economic recovery. Serbia has great potential in this field,” Ivica Dačić, Serbia’s prime minister, said.
