Britons will still be required to downgrade to claim benefits

Earlier this month, it has emerged that Britons who wanted to claim benefits via the official website of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) need to downgrade to Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6, as modern systems aren’t yet supported.

A DWP representative told V3 that no upgrade would be performed for the time being, indicating that only one of three systems currently in place has been updated to modern architecture.

"We are reviewing the existing Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Attendance Allowance and Overseas State Pension online application system, and in the meantime anyone who is unable to use the existing online system to apply can always phone to make a claim,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying.

And still, with the Windows XP retirement date quickly approaching, UK authorities will definitely have to make a decision and after grant a few more pounds for the tech department too.
