Even though Windows 8 is delivered with a built-in Weather app, many users are actually turning to third-party alternatives, including the Modern version of The Weather Channel.

In addition to a completely reworked interface, the application comes with improved location management and severe weather alerts that use the built-in Windows 8 notification system.

An enhanced video player is also included in this new release to allow users to watch The Weather Channel content, and so is a new version of the live tile to display location and more info.

The Weather Channel for Windows 8 can now display additional details on the current forecast section, such as humidity and wind, while also providing users with a better integration of Bing Maps.

Just as expected, several bug fixes are also part of the update, so The Weather Channel should load faster and be more stable no matter what Windows version you’re using.
