One experience and same design across the US

It’s not a secret anymore that Microsoft got the Windows 10 Technical Preview icons all wrong and many users out there were really outraged with the design the company opted for in these early versions of the OS, but while Redmond struggles to fix this, third-party designers come up with really interesting ideas.

nik255, for instance, created what he calls “Windows 10 universal icons” which should provide one experience across the entire operating system and the same design to make working in both Metro and on the desktop easier.

Basically, what he says is that Microsoft should use the same icon design across the operating system, but with small adjustments to better fit the environment where it’s being used. For example, the same icon would be used with or without a title, with or without transparency, and with or without a Modern UI effect.

This would, of course, create the consistency that Microsoft is aiming at with Windows 10 and that would clearly help beginners and new adopters get around the operating system faster.

In the meantime, word has it that Microsoft is working to revamp the Windows 10 icon pack with a new design and recently-compiled builds have shown that a new Recycle Bin icon has indeed been introduced ahead of a complete makeover for all the other icons.
