If you’re into instant messaging, you most likely know that Trillian is one of the top apps in this particular software category, bringing support for a wide array of protocols, as well as a wide array of options that enable users to tweak the program as they wish.

The developing team behind the app continues work on a new stable release, so, as part of the project, they have rolled out a brand new beta build for Windows users earlier today.

Trillian 5.5 Build 12 Beta thus includes a number of changes and fixes, so the message window now comes with the original simple view as the default minimal mode. The same simple view also allows for narrower widths and does not have an outbound typing indicator.

As far as bug fixes are concerned, when losing focus of the contact list, the app should clear the search field, while the autocorrect option should now work as expected in the conversation window.

The application continues to provide support for all Windows builds on the market, including the old XP and the newly launched Windows 8.1. Both 32- and 64-bit versions of Microsoft’s operating system work just fine.

Overall, this new preview build could come with some bugs, but it’s still a good chance to try out the next version of the app, so download Trillian 5.5 Build 12 Beta to see what’s new.
