Microsoft is still struggling to convince developers to create apps for the newly released Windows 8 operating system, but in case you’re not sure whether this is the right job for you, here’s something that may grab your attention.

Telerik, a company that is trying to assist developers in their first steps to create more complex apps, is now offering a $30,000 (€22,000) prize to a startup building a so-called “smashing Windows 8 app.”

The idea is pretty simple: build a Windows 8 Modern app, convince the guys over at Telerik that you deserve their support and you receive $30,000 in exchange for a minority stake in your company.

In addition, two members of your development team will fly to Hong Kong for a week of mentor-led boot camp with Accelerator HK, just to make sure they’re ready to create apps for Windows 8.

More information about the contest is available here.
