Windows 8.1 was initially supposed to be available via seamless update from the Store, but it turns out that the whole migration to a new OS is becoming more like a serious problem for users worldwide.

This time, consumers are reporting issues with the system reserved partition, as the Windows 8.1 installer displays an error after launching the compatibility check.

The error code is OXC1900104, according to one of the users who posted on Microsoft’s support forums, but no other details on how to fix it have been provided.

Another affected consumer claims that this can be easily repaired by increasing the size of the system reserved partition, just to give more space to the operating system to perform a number of tasks.

“I fixed this problem by increase the size of system reserved partition from 350MB to 400 MB. It seems like this was because there was not enough free space to backup something in the system reserved partition. However, I think this approach is risky and I hope there is a better solution,” he wrote.
