Facebook has already confirmed that it’s developing its own Metro client for Windows 8 and now it appears that the app is likely to be released in October together with the 8.1 update.

Microsoft has confirmed via the official Twitter Spanish account of the Windows division that a Facebook app for Windows 8 is projected to go live in the Store on October 18 at the same time with the first major overhaul of the company’s modern operating system.

While no other specifics have been provided, the Metro version of the Facebook client is expected to work on both Windows 8 and Windows RT, thus providing support for several tablets as well, including Microsoft’s own Surface RT.

At this point, the number one client that allows users to connect to their social network accounts is called Facebook Touch and comes not only with a good-looking UI, but also with advanced features to post new messages, access their profiles, and chat with friends.
