Windows 9 is definitely going to be a really big project for both Microsoft and users, but in addition to lots of new features, the operating system will also come with more subtle changes that are supposed to improve the overall experience and make the interface more eye candy.

Such an improvement is the addition of new windows animations which can be spotted whenever the user launches a new app or maximizes the window.

As you can see in this leaked video showing the Windows 9 Start menu in action, the new animation is already implemented in the existing builds of the operating system and is very likely to be there in the preview version projected to be unveiled at the end of the month.

Microsoft isn’t making too many big changes to the appearance of the desktop, as it obviously wants it to remain as familiar as possible, but such effects clearly make the operating system look a bit more modern, as Windows hasn’t evolved so much in this regard in the last versions.

Unfortunately for users who hoped to see Aero effects coming back in Windows 9, Microsoft won’t go for such a big change in its modern operating system and prefers instead to stick to the flat look that was introduced in Windows 8 in October 2012.
