As you probably know by now, the first major Windows 8 upgrade might be called Blue and, in addition to the Windows operating system, it could also spawn important improvements for many other products in Microsoft’s product range.

Rumor has it that Windows Phone Blue is expected to be released during this year’s holiday season, while the desktop version of the upgrade is likely to see daylight in August.

Even though Microsoft initially planned to release all Windows Blue projects at the same time, it appears that development of the Phone upgrade takes longer than expected, so it could arrive at a later date.

The desktop version of Windows Blue is rumored to get the first beta as soon as June, as the project has already reached the first of the two development stages. If all reports prove to be true, expect to see Blue going live as soon as this summer.
