Microsoft is always looking into ways to expand functionality of the Band fitness tracker, so after making it possible to control certain car features, the company is now trying to bring gaming on our wrists.

The first game created by Microsoft is called FYCPT and is now available in the store as part of a private beta, so it can only be downloaded by a handful of people.

The game requires a Windows Phone 8.1 device and allows players to control the main character, a paint drop, with wrist gestures. It features several game modes, so for example you can move the hand up and down to avoid obstacles in levels similar to Flappy Bird’s.

Although they are quite fun, such games aren’t necessarily supposed to become big hits but to show the potential that the activity tracker actually has. There are already several exciting games in the store, all of which are created by third-parties, but one developed by Microsoft is always welcome.

The Band 2 was launched in October 2015 together with the new Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book, bringing a new curved display and improved design to become more comfortable on the wrist. Another upgraded model is likely to hit the shelves in early 2017 when Microsoft is also expected to refresh the Surface lineup too.
