Microsoft working with WhatsApp to add support for Edge

If you’re an avid WhatsApp user, you most likely use the web-based service on a regular basis, as it allows you to chat with your contacts straight from your browser, using the keyboard as the input method.

Right now, most major browsers are fully supported, but Microsoft Edge, the new Windows 10 browser that replaces Internet Explorer, cannot be used with WhatsApp web for the time being.

Microsoft says that it’s working with WhatsApp to add support for their web-based service, but details on the timing are yet to be provided, as the feature is now being developed.

WhatsApp Web currently works on Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Safari, and all these browsers run flawlessly on Windows 10, so if you really want to use the service on the new operating system, there are many ways to do that without turning to Edge. WhatsApp Web needs to synchronize with the mobile app, but support for web is currently being offered for Android and Windows Phone users only. Support for iOS is expected to be added at a later time too.

Unfortunately, Internet Explorer doesn’t work either, so even if this old browser is available as a backup option for Windows 10 users, you still have to turn to a third-party browser to access WhatsApp Web.
