Win32 app ported to the Windows Store, not yet universal

The official Telegram Desktop app has been ported to the Windows Store with Project Centennial, Microsoft’s own set of tools that allow developers to bring their Win32 software to the Store and integrate Windows 10 features such as Cortana support and live tiles.

Although it’s now available for Windows 10 users in the Store, Telegram is not a universal app and only supports the PC, but on the other hand, it comes with the same features as the Win32 sibling.

For example, the Windows 10 version of Telegram Desktop lets you chat with your contacts, share photos, send MP4 and MOV files as videos that play right inside the conversation, change the phone number, and block users.

Obviously, Telegram is completely free, but you need a phone number to be able to complete the activation and start chatting with friends.

The synchronization feature works just like on WhatsApp, so you can have all your conversations wherever you go, though in the case of WhatsApp, the desktop app is more like a web wrapper that doesn’t do anything extra as compared to the browser version.

Telegram, on the other hand, brags about the security it offers to users, as all conversations are encrypted, and it also provides some other bonus tools like secret chats that are deleted at a user-defined interval, while also blocking screenshots to ensure full privacy.
