Microsoft has indeed announced a new Windows 10 build for PC and mobile for this week, but while this release is specifically aimed at devices eligible for the Anniversary Update, there’s more to come for phones who are still on the 10586 build as well.

Cumulative update 10586.318 is expected to be released this week as well and according to a tweet posted by Core Insider Program, it will be aimed at both insiders in the Release Preview ring and devices still running the stable version of Windows 10 Mobile.

Since it’s just a cumulative update, do not expect any new breaking feature, as this kind of releases is mostly aimed at fixing bugs and improving performance.

Furthermore, new features are currently being worked on for the Anniversary Update coming in the summer, so it’s clear that for the moment, the focus remains on optimizing the operating system for 10586 devices. We’re hearing that some tweaks to Edge browser could be included in this version too, but we’ll just have to wait and see if this is confirmed. The last update for these devices was 10586.242.

Not all devices are eligible for the upcoming Anniversary Update, so this new updates come in very handy for users whose phones need to stick with this version.

Microsoft doesn’t usually release new builds on Monday, so expect the launch to take place tomorrow or sometime this week when a new build for PCs and mobile devices is also due to see daylight.
