VundoFix used to be a lightweight and pretty effective tool that did not require installation, designed to remove Virtumonde infections from the computer - Trojans or worms which randomly trigger popups and advertisement material for third-party spyware programs, basically slowing down all user activity on the PC.
Simple solution to removing Virtumonde infections
No configuration was needed, as the app knew exactly were to look for the threat's hiding place, which included the Windows directory. However, users were also given the possibility to include custom files into the scan job to take into account.
Clear-cut interface with straightforward options
The interface of the app is now outdated, but straightforward and simple to use. The main window contains two buttons for scanning and fixing issues, respectively, while the File menu lets users import custom files, as well as export the list of results to file for closer examination.
Since installation is not required, VundoFix can be saved to any part of the hard disk in order to immediately launch its process. Apart from that, the program can be saved to a pen drive or other removable storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers. Moreover, unlike most installers, the tool does not modify Windows registry settings or crate extra files on the disk without permission, thus leaving no traces behind after its removal.
The developer seems to have dropped the project, since VundoFix has not been updated for a very long time. We have ran several tests to see if it was still capable of identifying the Vundo infection, but it did not work at all in our case. Users should resort to more reliable antivirus solutions to ensure round-the-clock PC security.
