CD2ISO is a compact software tool that lets you extract ISO images from CDs and DVDs, in order to save them to the hard drive. It has limited features and is easy to work with.
This is a portable piece of software, so CD2ISO does not come with an installation package. It means that you can store the app on a USB flash drive or any other removable pen drive, save it to any computer, and directly run its executable file.
The most important part is that the Windows Registry does not receive new updates, and no files are left behind on the hard drive after program removal.
The app is wrapped in a standard, plain and uncomplicated interface where you can select the source drive from a drop-down list; it is possible to view the drive type and size.
So, all you have to do is establish the output destination and filename, in order to proceed with the extraction procedure. Moreover, you can adjust the extraction speed (which affects the usage of system resources), as well as make CD2ISO only test the task, and not actually perform it.
The simple-to-use program has a good response time, finishes a job in reasonable time and includes some documentation for users. We have not come across any problems during our tests; CD2ISO did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. All in all, this is a pretty straightforward software for extracting ISO images from CDs and DVDs. Too bad it has not been updated for a very long time.
