CD Key Reader
CD Key Reader is a compact and lightweight application that scans the computer registry for applications installed from a CD with serial numbers. It shows you these keys, in case you have lost or forgotten them.
As installation is not a prerequisite, you can just save the executable file anywhere on the hard disk and click it to run. Alternatively, you can move CD Key Reader to a USB flash drive or other removable device, in order to run it on any computer without prior installers.
What's more, the Windows registry does not get updated with new entries, and leftovers are not kept on the disk after eliminating the program.
The interface is made from a regular window with a WYSIWYG structure, where you can initialize the scanning procedure with the simple click of a button.
Henceforth, CD Key Reader looks into Windows Registry and shows on screen all applications with serial numbers, along with their registry path. The tool does not provide buttons for copying data to the Clipboard, printing it, or exporting it to an external file. However, you can make a selection and use the global Copy function available through the context menu.
CD Key Reader carries out a scan job rapidly and without error, while using a minimum quantity of CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and works smoothly, without causing the operating system to hang, crash or show error notifications. All in all, CD Key Reader serves its purpose, but it has not been updated for a very long time.
