Overlap Wallpaper

Overlap Wallpaper is a small and portable application that enables you to overlay an image on the actual wallpaper. It puts several settings at your disposal, which can be easily configured.

As there is no setup pack involved, you can drop the program files anywhere on the hard disk and just click the executable to run.

It is also possible to save a copy of Overlap Wallpaper to a USB storage device or similar unit, in order to use it on any machine with minimum effort and without prior installers. Keep in mind that the device must not be write-protected, since the app creates an INI file.

Another important aspect to take into account is that the Windows registry does not get updated with new entries, as it frequently happens with installers.

Once started, Overlap Wallpaper creates an icon in the system tray area and displays a sample image on the screen. Settings can be adjusted from the context menu of the tray icon.

It is possible to assign any picture from the computer as the overlay image using the file browser (drag-and-drop is not supported), as long as it has the JPG, PNG, GIF or BMP format.

You can adjust the image size and transparency, as well as preview changes in real-time before applying them. Other options of Overlap Wallpaper let you specify a time frame for reloading the photo, make it stay on top of active windows, as well as set the color transparency in the photo.

Overlap Wallpaper is low-demanding when it comes to CPU and RAM, so it does not burden the overall performance of the computer. It has a good response time and works well, without causing the OS to hang, crash or pop up error messages. We have not come across any issues in our tests. Overlap Wallpaper serves its purpose.
